Pizza is a savory dish of Italian origin consisting of a usually round, flattened base of leavened wheat-based dough topped with tomatoes, cheese, and often various other ingredients which is then baked at a high temperature

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour 

  • 1 ¼ cup warm water

  • 2 tsp active dry yeast 

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 3 tbsp olive oil 

  • 1 tsp salt

  • Pizza Toppings (For this pizza I have used onions, picked peppers, red peppers, mushrooms, olives and smoked ham)

Directions

  • In a bowl, take the warm water and add in the active dry yeast and sugar. Let this sit aside on your counter for about 8-10 minutes until frothy
  • In another large mixing bowl, add the flour, olive oil & salt and mix well 
  • Add the frothy yeast mix to the large mixing bowl and combine well
  • Knead this mixture for 5 minutes. Cover with cling wrap and prove for 1 hour. You can rest this mixture over the kitchen countertop 
  • After 1 hour, divide the dough into 2 parts as this would make two 12” pizza’s
  • Preheat the oven to 450F
  • Take one part of the dough and place on a floured surface. Work with this dough to make a nice flat pizza base while stretching and flipping the dough
  • Place this pizza base on a well floured pizza steal
  • Spread the pizza sauce evenly, shred some fresh cheese of your choice
  • Load your pizza with your favorite toppings (For this pizza I have used onions, picked peppers, red peppers, mushrooms, olives and smoked ham)
  • Bake for 15 minutes
  • Broil on high heat for another minute to give your pizza a charred look
  • Cool on a wire rack for about a minute before slicing into this delicious homemade pizza
  • You can sprinkle this with some chilli flakes, fresh herbs and/or parmesan cheese

Notes

  • For homemade pizza marinara sauce: In a pan, saute 2-3 cloves of garlic, 3 chopped tomatoes, some thyme & rosemary with olive oil
  • Blend this into a smooth sauce, simmer to 5 minutes and let this cool. This quick sauce is ready
