Flatbread that is oven baked or pan fried served with main course

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup warm water

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 4 cups all purpose flour

  • ¾ cup yogurt

  • ¾ cup milk

  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

  • In a bowl, take the warm water and add in the active dry yeast, sugar and mix well. Let this sit aside on your counter for about 8-10 minutes until frothy
  • In another large mixing bowl, add the flour, salt, milk & yogurt and mix well
  • Add the frothy yeast mix to the large mixing bowl and combine well
  • Knead this mixture for 5 minutes. Cover with cling wrap and prove for 1 hour. You can rest this mixture over the kitchen countertop
  • Equally cut this dough into 12 ball shaped pieces
  • Using a rolling pin, flatten each of the dough pieces into ¼ inch thickness
  • Brush some olive oil, cilantro and/ or chopped garlic over the flattened dough piece and either fry on a well heated pan/ skillet or bake in the oven for 10 minutes at 450 F
  • Additionally you can brush on some melted butter over the naan

PRO TIP

  • Serve this Naan with your favorite curry or just have it with a dipping garlic mayo sauce
