hoursIf you like baking bread, here’s a wonderful place to start. This recipe bakes up a delicious golden bread. There is nothing like the homemade aroma wafting through your kitchen as it bakes
Ingredients
1 ½ cup warm water
1 tbsp active dry yeast
3 ½ cups all purpose flour
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp salt
Directions
- To make this soft loaf of bread, In a bowl, take the warm water and add in the active dry yeast and mix well. Let this sit aside on your counter for about 5 minutes until frothy
- In another large mixing bowl, add the flour,oil & salt and mix well
- Add the frothy yeast mix to the large mixing bowl and combine well
- Knead this mixture for 8 minutes
- Bench rest the dough for about 3 mins and cover with a damp cloth
- Well flour your working surface and flatten out the dough. Now, work to shape this as a dough ball
- Place the dough in a well oiled bowl, cover with cling wrap and prove for 1 hour
- Punch the dough down and knead the dough for about a minute
- Preshape again into a ball and bench rest for about 15 minutes
- For the final shaping, roll the dough using a rolling pin to about 1 inch in thickness and roll cylindrically to place in a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan
- Allow this to rise again for 1 hour in your pan
- Bake in a well preheated oven at 400F for about 35-40 minutes
- Cool, brush with butter and enjoy!
PRO TIP
- You do not need a kitchen aid to knead this dough! Just knead the dough with your hands until the dough is well combined. Serve warm or toasted with your favorite butter
- If your bread has gone a little stale, you can always make bread crumbs, croutons, french toast or even bread pudding
